Benitez Names Everton XI For QPR Tie

Anthony Gordon makes his first Everton start since January and Mason Holgate returns to the middle of defence, as manager Rafa Benitez makes five changes for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup tie at QPR.

Andre Gomes and Tom Davies come into Everton’s midfield and there is a start at right-back for Jonjoe Kenny.

Asmir Begovic, then, begins his second straight match in goal, with Holgate partnered by Ben Godfrey at centre-half.

Lucas Digne captains Everton from his customary left-back berth and Kenny starts for the second time this term following an appearance against Huddersfield Town in round two.

Davies and Gomes are flanked by Gordon – who was last part of an Everton starting XI for the FA Cup meeting with Rotherham United nine months ago – and Andros Townsend, who contributed the winning goal at Huddersfield.

Alex Iwobi, the other scorer against Huddersfield, will support Salomon Rondon in attack.

Demarai Gray, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan and Michael Keane are included among Everton’s substitutes.

They are joined on the bench by Ellis Simms, Jarrad Branthwaite and goalkeeper Andy Lonergan.
