Rafa Benitez features in Tuesday’s edition of the Liverpool Echo, with the Everton boss outlining the factors he will consider when selecting his starting XI for tonight’s Carabao Cup tie at QPR.

In an interview originally given to evertontv, he said: "You can replace players in some positions and it is fine.

"In some of them we are short of some people and it is a big risk if you lose one of these players you cannot replace. But at the same time you have to put a strong team on the pitch to compete and win.

"You don’t have the time to recover properly and you have an important game coming soon. But in the meantime you have to be sure you make the right decisions."

The manager also confirmed Salomon Rondon is in contention to make his second successive start for the Blues.

“He is training hard and doing well,” he added. “He has recovered well and he will be ready.

"But the problem is when you are not fully fit, every time you put him on the pitch, you have to see how much he needs to recover.

"He is quite positive and training well so I expect he can give us what we are expecting from him."

The Independent and The Guardian, meanwhile, report James Rodriguez has travelled to Qatar to discuss a potential transfer.

The Colombian playmaker is rumoured to be in talks with Al-Rayyan, with the transfer window in the region open until the end of September.
