Benitez Gives Team News Update

Rafa Benitez expects Seamus Coleman to be available for Everton’s home clash with Burnley on Monday night (8pm BST).

Coleman sustained a hamstring injury while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland but is in contention to start against the Clarets.

Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina have returned to full training and could also feature, while Salomon Rondon could make his Everton debut after joining the Blues from Chinese side Dalian Professional on transfer deadline day.

Benitez added James Rodriguez is unlikely to play in Monday's match as he works his way back to match fitness, while Fabian Delph has been ruled out with a shoulder injury.

When asked about Coleman’s injury at his pre-match press conference, Benitez said: "It was not very bad.

"I think he can be available on Monday.

"The majority of the players are fine. We have two or three issues, but Yerry and Ben are training already.

“Fabian Delph has a problem with the shoulder. That is the longest [injury] maybe we have. Tom Davies is very close [after missing the Brighton game].

"We are in a good situation at the moment.”

On James, Benitez said: “He is training with the team.

“We have been talking about his future and we had some clubs interested but he is still here.

“To get match fitness, it means he has to play games and has to play games in a row. At the moment, I think he is a little bit behind the others.”
