Everton will begin their 2021/22 Carabao Cup campaign with a visit to Championship Huddersfield Town following Wednesday's second round draw.
The Blues, quarter-finalists last season, will go to the Yorkshire club's John Smith's Stadium in the week commencing 23 August.
Everton last travelled to Huddersfield in January 2019, when Richarlison's third-minute goal settled a Premier League contest.
The teams have twice met in the League Cup.
Everton came out on top of a two-legged second-round tie 3-2 on aggregate in September 1998.
It was more straight forward 12 years later when Everton won another second-round match 5-1 at Goodison Park.
Huddersfield, managed by Spaniard Carlos Corberan, reached this stage of the competition with a round-one penalty shootout victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
