Everton Squad Surprises Richarlison

Richarlison returned to Everton training at USM Finch Farm on Wednesday fresh from becoming an Olympic gold medallist in Tokyo last weekend – and he received a special welcome from his Toffees teammates!

The Blues First-Team squad and staff – including manager Rafa Benitez and Director of Football Marcel Brands – formed a guard of honour for the striker and held up a banner which read ‘Congratulations, Richarlison’ in Portuguese.

Brands said a few words to acknowledge Richarlison's achievement before the Brazilian ace gave a short speech in English!

Richarlison enjoyed an exceptional Olympic Games, spearheading his country’s attack and finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals.

Brazil won the competition in dramatic circumstances last Saturday, beating Spain 2-1 after extra time in the Yokohama Stadium final.

Richarlison expressed his gratitude to his Everton teammates and the Club in a Twitter post later on Wednesday

"The best reception I could have on my way home," he wrote. "Thanks to my teammates, staff and club management for this beautiful surprise.

"And thanks for letting me make my dream come true, Everton!

"It's for this kind of affection that I'll always give my 110% for this club and for our fans."

Congratulations, Richy, and it's great to have you back!
