Yesterday, German tabloid Bild reported the Blues, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were interested in the Swiss international.

It is believed the midfielder would be available for a fee in the region of £16.9million.

The Liverpool Echo reports Everton boss Rafa Benitez is planning on bringing three or four more signings to Goodison Park before the end of this transfer window.

According to the newspaper, the Spaniard is looking to strengthen across the park by signing a right-back, a midfielder, a winger and an experienced back-up striker.

The Premier League transfer window will close on Tuesday 31 August at 11pm (BST).

Royal Antwerp right-back Aurelio Buta has been linked to a move to Everton by Calciomercato.

The Italian network states Everton are in negotiations with the Belgian side but face competition from Scotland's Celtic who are also in talks.

The 24-year-old is rumoured to be valued in the region of £2.5million and £3.5million.

The report from O Jogo goes on to state there are also options in England within the Championship should the Portugal under-21 star wish to remain in England.
