Everton To Join United In Tribute To Frontline Workers

Everton will join Manchester United in paying tribute to frontline workers and to thank them for their selfless service throughout the ongoing coronavirus pandemic ahead of Saturday’s pre-season friendly between the two clubs.

Rafa Benitez’s Blues and the Manchester United squad will gather round the centre circle prior to the 12.45pm (BST) kick-off at Old Trafford to join fans in a minute’s applause in recognition of the NHS, the emergency services and all frontline workers and volunteers who have served local communities across the country with dedication over the past 18 months.

A delegation of frontline heroes will also be hosted by Manchester United in the Directors’ Box at Old Trafford, allowing officials from the host and Everton the chance to offer their personal appreciation to those who have worked tirelessly to combat COVID-19.

Everton captain Seamus Coleman said: “We’re so grateful to all our frontline workers who have shown their dedication and selflessness throughout the pandemic to help those in need.

“They are all real heroes and it will be an honour for our team to join Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday in showing our appreciation for their efforts to protect us against COVID-19.”
