The Daily Mail suggests Everton could be interested in signing Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa.

The Blues are rumoured to be monitoring the situation with the Brazilian, who it is claimed would be available for a fee in the region of £40million.

The 24-year-old scored 14 goals and provided two assists in 25 appearances last season.

Football journalist Grant Wahl claims Schalke striker Matthew Hoppe could potentially be on his way to Goodison Park.

The USA striker netted six goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances last campaign but was unable to prevent the German side dropping out of the top division.

Hoppe lifted the Gold Cup last night as USA beat Mexico 1-0 in the final.

The Liverpool Echo writes that the Club are reportedly in talks with the representatives of Ellis Simms regarding a new contract.

Simms spent the second half of last season on loan with Blackpool, scoring 10 goals as the side were promoted to the Championship via the League One play-offs.

The Tangerines are said to be keen for the youngster to return for a second loan spell but reportedly won't make a move for him until January due to an injury Simms is currently recovering from.

The 20-year-old's deal with Everton is set to conclude next summer.
