Mixed Fortunes For Everton's Olympians

There were mixed fortunes for Everton Women's Olympians on Friday as Sweden secured their place in the semi-finals but Team GB were eliminated.

Fellow summer recruit Anna Anvegard, who scored on her first appearance of the tournament against New Zealand last time out, missed out on the Swede's matchday squad.

Sweden now face Australia in the semi-finals on Monday, after the Matildas defeated Team GB in a dramatic seven-goal thriller.

Ellen White scored an impressive hat-trick for Team GB, but for the second successive Olympic tournament the side exit at the quarter-final stage.

Goals from Alanna Kennedy, Mary Fowler and a Sam Kerr brace secured Australia's route into the last four.

Blues goalkeeper Sandy MacIver, who missed out on Team GB's matchday squad, will now return to USM Finch Farm to begin preparations for the new season.
