Football journalist Ekrem Konur reports that Everton are monitoring the progress of Flamengo striker Gabriel Barbosa.

The 24-year-old made the switch from Inter Milan back to his native country last summer and played alongside Blues forward Richarlison at the Copa America.

Barbosa is believed to be valued at around £23million with any proposed bids expected to exceed that.

The Liverpool Echo discusses the impressive form of Jean-Philippe Gbamin during the Club's pre-season.

The 25-year-old has competed in all four warm up matches ahead of the new season and is set to challenge for a place in the squad come the first competitive game.

Keeping with the Echo, the outlet provides their player ratings for last night's clash against Pumas with Demarai Gray achieving the highest score with nine.

They wrote: "Very, very impressive stuff from the new man once again. Great work both in and out of possession and a great pass to release Moise Kean to score the goal."

The Club are set to miss out on an Everton return for Kurt Zouma according to journalist Julien Maynard

The reporter claims the French defender will be used as part of a swap deal for Sevilla's Jules Kounde.

The Chelsea defender spent the 2018/19 season in Merseyside making 36 appearances for the Club.
