New Everton signing Anna Anvegard was on the scoresheet as Sweden wrapped up their flawless Olympic Games group stage campaign with a 2-0 victory over New Zealand.

Anvegard, who was making her first appearance of the tournament, rose high to head in the Swedes’ opener on 17 minutes before Madelen Janogy’s strike on the half-hour mark doubled their advantage.

Attacker Anvegard was a threat throughout the game before being substituted five minutes from time.

Fellow summer Everton signing Nathalie Bjorn, meanwhile, played the second half of the match, with the defender helping Sweden see out a comfortable victory.

The Swedes progress to the Olympic quarter-finals with a 100 per cent record having also beaten the USA – ending their incredible 44-match unbeaten run – and Australia in qualification Group G.

Sweden's last-eight encounter will take place on Friday. They will face the third-place team from either Group E or F.

Everton goalkeeper Sandy MacIver, meanwhile, was an unused substitute for Team GB as they secured top spot in Group E with a 1-1 draw against Canada.

Great Britain were already assured of qualification following wins over Japan and Chile. They fell behind when Canada's Adriana Leon struck shortly after half-time but Caroline Weir's effort six minutes before the final whistle rescued a point for Hege Riise's side.
