Richarlison and Brazil fell narrowly short in their bid to retain the Copa America after losing 1-0 to rivals Argentina in Rio's Maracana stadium on Saturday night.

Everton forward Richarlison played the full game and had one of the hosts' best chances on the night, forcing a save from Aston Villa keeper Emi Martinez.

Angel di Maria proved the matchwinner, though, with his superb lob on 22 minutes, after taking down Rodrigo de Paul's lofted pass.

The result denied Richarlison a successive Copa America title following the Blues favourite's success in 2019, when he scored in a 3-1 final victory over Peru.
