The Liverpool Echo reacts to the appointment of Rafa Benitez as Everton's new manager and states transfer plans have already been discussed between the boss and Director of Football Marcel Brands.

According to their source, the pair discussed the areas of the park that the squad needs strengthening in, with right-back Denzel Dumfries one of the names suggested to pursue this summer.

The PSV Eindhoven captain impressed in the group stage, scoring two goals for the Netherlands.

Seamus Coleman has spoken to OTB AM about the appointment of Benitez and that he's ready to hit the ground running with his new boss.

The Republic of Ireland international admitted he was disappointed how the past few seasons have ended and wants the team to improve to be consistent throughout next season.

"As players and staff we need and want what's best for Everton Football Club and... there have been too many seasons that just dwindled out," he told the network.

"That's on me and a lot of the players and me as captain in the last couple of years. Now, we're ready to go again and come back and impress the new manager.

"Like I keep talking about, and I'm not embarrassed to say it, we want what's best for Everton and we want to be successful.

"I'm sure fans are sick hearing me say it but I'll keep saying it until the day I kick my last football for Everton: we want to win a trophy at that football club."

Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha claim Everton are interested in signing Benfica's Haris Seferovic.

The outlet says the Blues and Wolverhampton Wanderers have made contact with Benfica before the beginning of the European Championships with an initial asking price of £12.9million.

However, that price has since doubled according to their source due to 29-year-old's impressive displays with Switzerland, taking his nation into quarter-finals having beat France earlier this week.
