The Daily Telegraph and Sky Sports claim Everton are close to confirming the appointment of Rafael Benitez as the Club’s new manager.

Further progress in contract negotiations has reportedly been made over the weekend, with an announcement “expected in the next few days”.

The Daily Express suggests Everton could be interested in bringing Brentford’s Ivan Toney to Goodison Park.

The striker hit 33 goals in 52 appearances last season as the west London side were promoted to the Premier League via the Championship playoffs. Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Toney.

Spanish newspaper Marca, meanwhile, reports AC Milan are keen on signing James Rodriguez from Everton.

The publication believes the Serie A club could open negotiations with the Blues this week.

The Independent features Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of England’s European Championship clash with Germany on Tuesday.

Calvert-Lewin is convinced there is “a lot more to come” from the Three Lions and backed the team to show their attacking quality in the last-16 tie.

“In tournament football it’s important that you don’t concede goals because, more often than not, the margins are quite small," he said.

“We’ve had two 1-0 wins [over Croatia and Czech Republic] and you still get the three points but we’d like to be a bit more creative and create more opportunities. It’s important that we stick to our identity and play our game.”

The Daily Mail shines a spotlight on England’s preparations for a potential penalty shootout against Germany – and claims Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is “being considered” as of the Three Lions’ early takers.

Pickford emphatically scored from the spot in a Nations League shootout win over Switzerland in 2018.
