What The Papers Say - 24 June

Rafa Benitez remains the favourite to become the new Everton boss, according to the Liverpool Echo

The newspaper writes that confirmation of the Spaniard's appointment is not imminent, however, and talks with the Club are in their final stages.

ESPN and The Guardian claim Everton are set to miss out on former Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre.

The Swiss manager had been rumoured to be one of the candidates considered by the Blues but according to the outlets, the 63-year-old is set to join Crystal Palace.

Italian publication Tuttosport has named Everton as one of three clubs in pursuit of AC Milan winger Rafael Leão.

The outlet believes Wolves and Marseille are interested in signing the 22-year-old who made 40 appearances last season, scoring seven and providing six assists.

This follows reports yesterday from Sky Italia and Calciomercato who claim the Portuguese player could be part of a swap deal with James Rodríguez going in the opposite direction.

Also coming from Italy, Calciomercato believes Everton will have competition from Premier League sides to bring Robin Olsen back to Goodison Park.

Burnley and Brighton are set to table offers for the Swede to return to England.

Despite the competition, the Liverpool Echo reported earlier this month that the 31-year-old wishes to remain with the Blues as a permanent member of the squad despite the exit of Carlo Ancelotti.
