The Mirror claims Rafael Benitez will have another round of talks with Majority Shareholder Farhad Moshiri about the vacant Everton manager's job.

According to their source, Moshiri has met Benitez on three previous occasions and a deal has already been "agreed in principle".

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano believes Nuno Espírito Santo still wants the Everton job and has not ruled himself out of the recruitment process.

Speaking on Don Robbie's YouTube channel, Romano says the Portuguese boss is ready to take charge of the Club.

"Nuno is waiting and is hoping for the job because he wants to be the new Everton manager," he said.

"It was really one step away from being completed, but then they asked for some days.”

Portuguese newspaper, Correio da Manhã writes that Everton are keen on signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder Joao Palhinha.

The 25-year-old is rumoured to be valued at €30million with both Leicester City and Napoli reportedly interested.

Sky Italia reports that the Club have enquired about AS Roma defender Chris Smalling.

The former Manchester United player featured only 16 times last season due to injury issues and could be offloaded by incoming boss Jose Mourinho.

The defender is contracted until 2023 having signed permanently last summer.
