Chelsea Defeat Knocks Everton Out Of FA Cup

Everton's Vitality FA Cup journey ended at Kingsmeadow as Chelsea edged themselves to a 3-0 result to conclude the season.

Goals from Guro Reiten, Sam Kerr and Drew Spence put the hosts out of Everton's reach.

Fine margins were the difference on the night as Willie Kirk's side gave Chelsea a difficult game.

Ingrid Moe Wold captained the Club in her last game in football as the Blues aimed to repeat last year's FA Cup result against Thursday's opponents.

Everton started the game well, applying pressure on the hosts.

Sandy MacIver was called into the action in the 15th minute to keep out Kerr's header and denied the Australian again three minutes later as she released a shot towards goal.

But Everton momentum was building as Claire Emslie thought she had given the Blues the lead after 19 minutes. Poppy Pattinson sent the ball into the area for Emslie to connect first time with an excellent volley. However, the quick reaction of Ann-Katrin Berger kept the Scottish international out.

Despite the positive start, manager Kirk's side went behind after 29 minutes.

Chelsea broke on the counter and Reiten slotted the ball from outside the area into the bottom-right corner past MacIver.

Into the second half and the visiting side could have been level after 62 minutes.

A brilliant run along the left side carried Gabby George into the box but there was no Everton player on hand to convert the ball across goal.

Another chance went awry as Nicoline Sørensen connected with Wold's cross but her shot went over the bar.

Chelsea doubled their lead in the 77th minute, with Kerr unleashing a powerful strike into the top-right corner.

Ten minutes later, Chelsea had their third, as Spence headed home to extinguish Everton's Cup hopes.
