The noise reached fever pitch when Richarlison headed home the only goal of the game to draw Everton level on points with Tottenham Hotspur in seventh.

Carlo Ancelotti's team have conceded only one goal in four games – in Sunday's defeat by Sheffield United – and Keane had a huge hand in this latest shutout.

He won seven aerial duels and made seven clearances, recovered possession three times and completed two tackles.

"We needed a response and our commitment was there to be seen," said Keane, whose side finish the campaign at Manchester City on Sunday.

"We are still in the fight for Europe and we'll give it everything we've got.
