‘We Can Compete With The Best’ - Everton Ace Previews Live Chelsea Youth Cup Tie

Everton Youth Cup hero Luke Butterfield says Everton will take a fearless approach in Thursday’s YouTube live fifth-round tie at Chelsea (12.30pm BST), with the Blues aiming to follow up their thrilling success at Manchester City with another notable victory.

Midfielder Butterfield hit a stunning 98th-minute winner to knock out holders City in the previous round of the competition.

That dramatic triumph saw Everton book a last-16 meeting with Chelsea – and the game will be streamed live on our Official YouTube channel on Thursday, with coverage beginning at 12.15pm.

Butterfield acknowledges Chelsea – winners of the Youth Cup for five years in a row between 2013 and 2018 – will provide another tough test but says belief is strong in the Everton camp ahead of the showdown at Kingsmeadow.

“Beating City gives us huge confidence,” Butterfield told evertontv

“We’re coming up against another top team in Chelsea. But you’ve got to beat the top teams to win the competition. That’s our mentality.

“We’ve shown we can compete with the best and we’re not afraid of anyone.”

Watch Chelsea Under-18s v Everton Under-18s live on our official YouTube channel from 12.15pm on Thursday.

Everton Academy graduate Nick Chadwick will be alongside Darren Griffiths in the commentary box for the game.

The tie is one of two live matches on our official YouTube channel this week, with Everton Women’s FA Cup clash with Durham at Walton Hall Park (2pm) also being streamed.
