Friday’s edition of the Liverpool Echo features an interview with Everton midfielder Jean-Phillippe-Gbamin.

The Ivorian made his First-Team comeback after a lengthy injury layoff in Monday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace and says he is hungry to “show Everton why they bought me”.

He also saluted the support he received from Evertonians during his time on the sidelines.

“They've always been messaging me on social media, and I've always felt they are there [with me],” he said.

“I hope that soon they can be in the stadium, it will be a really good feeling because we need them."

Gbamin will be hoping to see more action when Everton take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday night (8.15pm BST).

Ahead of the game at Amex Stadium, Brighton boss Graham Potter has revealed his admiration for Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti.

He told SussexLive: "Carlo is a really impressive character who’s had a huge influence on modern football and will go down as one of the great coaches.”

The Southern Daily Echo, meanwhile, reports Southampton will aim to sign on-loan Everton winger Theo Walcott on a permanent deal when his contract with the Blues expires at the end of the season.

The paper carries quotes from Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl, who confirmed the club were “in negotiations” with Walcott.

And the Irish Examiner reflects on Ireland Women’s 1-0 defeat to Denmark Women in Dublin on Thursday night.

Everton forward Nicoline Sorensen struck the only goal of the game, with her ninth-minute strike ultimately proving decisive in the friendly international.
