Digne Starts For France In World Cup Qualifying Win

Lucas Digne played the full match as France made it two wins from two in World Cup qualifying Group D with a 2-0 away victory over Kazakhstan.

The Everton left-back earned his 36th international cap for the world champions, who triumphed courtesy of Ousmane Dembele's 20th-minute opener and an own goal from Sergiy Malyi just before the break.

France are back in World Cup qualifying action on Wednesday night when they take on Bosnia & Herzegovina in Sarajevo.

England also maintained their perfect start in Group I, seeing off Albania 2-0 with goals from Harry Kane and Mason Mount. Blues striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin was an unused substitute for Gareth Southgate's side.

Meanwhile, Ben Godfrey played the full match and Tom Davies for 72 minutes as England Under-21s lost 2-0 to Portugal in the Euro U21 Championships.

To progress from Group D, the young Lions now need to beat Croatia by a convincing scoreline and hope Portugal - who had Joao Virginia on the bench against England - get the better of Switzerland. Those matches will be played at 5pm (BST) on Wednesday.
