Keane: Everton Can Mix It With The Best Under Ancelotti

The squad is going into Monday’s game in a really good place after three straight wins.

The table is very tight. We’re up there at the moment but things can change very quickly, because it is so close.

We believe we’ve got a chance of pushing for the top four. We’re close to that spot at the moment but the main aim is to get into Europe.

Achieving that and getting into the Europa League isn’t going to be easy, because there are teams a few places below us who aren’t far away. We have to make sure we’re on it for these last 12 games of the season.

It was a great result against West Brom but by no means our best performance. That’s a sign of how far we’ve come – the fact we didn’t play great but still came away with the three points.

We know we’re going to have to play better if we’re going to stay where we are in the league at the moment or even go higher. We also know we can do that. It’s definitely achievable.

On Monday we’ll be coming up against a Chelsea team in very good form. They are keeping the ball a lot and creating quite a lot of chances.

But we’ve been used to playing against teams this season that have had a bit more possession than us and we’ve stayed solid in those games, hit them on the counter and taken our chances. It’s probably going to be a similar pattern on Monday.

They will probably have more of the ball than us, especially being at home. But we know we can hurt them when we do have the ball and we’ve just got to defend well.

We’ve worked on a lot of formations with the manager and coaching staff.

I don’t think teams can expect us to play a certain formation going into a game, because we’ve changed it from 4-4-2, 4-3-3, a diamond in midfield, five at the back… We can surprise other teams with our tactics.

And we’ve also got a lot of quality players. We have players that can play in different positions, so that gives the manager more opportunities to play different styles and game plans.

The manager has given us the belief we can mix it with the best and we can beat these teams. We’ve proven it. We’re really happy with the progress we’ve made.

On a personal level, I feel very good at the moment.

I’ve been in a good place and enjoying coming into training every day and being around the lads. We’ve been getting good results, which builds confidence and momentum.

Just to be part of a team that’s doing well and chasing something is exciting.

The manager has instilled a lot of confidence in me. He is always talking to me, bringing me into the office as well – though that happens more with Davide Ancelotti, the assistant manager.

We go through clips on how I can improve, tactically with the way the coaching staff want us to play. I feel I’m getting stronger and better every week

I think the main thing is I’m really enjoying it and I feel confident every time I step on the pitch. Hopefully it can continue.

The manager has been brilliant for us. He’s been there and won it all and coached a lot of the best players in the world.

I think I’ve become more tactically aware under Carlo, on how each system works and what to expect from other teams and players

The fact he has that knowledge and the players know he’s seen it all as a manager – everything he says, you trust 100 per cent.

You know he has got a reason behind everything he does. Everyone buys into absolutely everything the manager says tactically and all the decisions he makes.

I think he makes the whole squad happy. He rotates the team quite a bit and gets results while doing it. That’s not easy to do but it comes down to all his experience.

Hopefully he can stay here for a long time. All the players are loving working under him and the fans are loving having him as our manager.

To have a manager of that stature is fantastic and when you are part of training every day, you see the quality we’ve got.  And we know the Club is only going to add better players to that mix

Last week we got the news about the new stadium, too, which was great.

It's a really exciting time to be part of this club.
