Keane Identifies Key Factor Driving Everton's Confidence

Michael Keane says manager Carlo Ancelotti is giving Everton's players the belief they can grab themselves a top-four Premier League finish this season.

The Blues were far from their best against a dogged West Bromwich Albion team at The Hawthorns on Thursday night but came away with a third-straight victory thanks to Richarlison's sixth goal in as many games.

The win - Everton's ninth on the road this term - moved them into the top four, ahead of Liverpool v Chelsea later that night, with 12 matches of the Premier League season remaining.

Here's what Keane had to say about a hard-earned three points in the West Midlands...

On the performance and most pleasing aspect of the win...

"The most pleasing thing is the fact we are into the top four and won away from home when we didn’t play well.

"That is the sign of a good team.

"We have played much better in previous weeks when we have been on this decent run.

"But tonight we had to grind it out, they made it difficult for us, we didn’t create a lot of chances and there was a bit of a lack of quality from us.

"But we got the goal and kept a clean sheet so we're really pleased with that."

SIGURDSSON ON KEY ELEMENTS BLUES NEED TO MAINTAIN

Playmaker made instant impact in 1-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion.

On substitute Gylfi Sigurdsson providing the assist for Richarlison's winner a minute after coming on...

"We see every day, the quality Gylfi has. He has been proving it throughout the season.

"Maybe they [West Bromwich Albion] could have stopped it second time round.

"But we know Gylfi is going to put that quality in, Richy made a good run and got in front of the keeper, and it is a good header.

"He is really good in the air and, luckily for us, he is back on a goalscoring run."

On the Carlo Ancelotti factor giving Blues top-four confidence...

"We know it’s going to be tough but we have the quality and attitude and mentality to do it.

"The manager has been there and done it all and passes that belief onto his players.

"You can see on nights like tonight, even when we don’t play well, we believe we are going to win.

"We can dig deep, get one chance, take it and hold on.

"Those are some of the qualities you need."
