Chat With Richard Gough At Our Next Fan Friday Event!

This week’s special guest on Blue Family Fan Friday is Richard Gough.

Evertonians can sign up to our Zoom call with the former Blues defender by using the form below.

The recruitment of the former Scottish international by Walter Smith in 1999 raised a few eyebrows, but Gough was superb at the heart of the defence, forming successful partnerships with Dave Watson and David Weir.

He played 42 times for Everton and remains the oldest outfield player to ever appear in the First Team, aged 39 years and 23 days when he made his final appearance against Bradford City in April 2001.

Gough joined Everton at the end of a sterling professional career during which he starred for Dundee United and Tottenham Hotspur before a trophy-laden spell with Glasgow Rangers.

He brought a supreme level of professionalism and dedication and determination to the Everton squad and has some fond memories of his time with the Club.

The Zoom event is available for a limited number of supporters – fill out the form below before 2pm on Friday to be in with a chance of joining in!

Last week’s Blue Family Fan Friday guest was Joseph Yobo.

The defender, who was David Moyes' first signing back in 2002, recalled his upbringing in Nigeria, the chance to play in Europe when he was a teenager, his continued love for Everton and the characters he played alongside during his time with the Blues.

He also hinted that maybe his Everton journey isn't over just yet...

And his choice of his most difficult Premier League opponent surprised a few people, too!

These special Fan Friday events are part of Everton’s increased Blue Family activity following the announcement of another national lockdown – and help keep supporters connected with the Club they love during this difficult time.

Blue Family was launched in March 2020 to provide vital assistance to some of the most vulnerable and socially isolated members of the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

The campaign has supported more than 27,000 vulnerable and at-risk families, made almost 25,000 check-in and welfare calls, delivered in excess of 14,000 emergency food parcels and provided more than 250,000 meals for school children, participants and local residents.

The expansion of activity will include increased outbound calls to fans and additional support to deal with an increase in referrals for people in need.

The Club will also offer bespoke online content for supporters across the world. The Blue Family section of the official Everton website is home to a wealth of online content to support home learning, fan wellbeing and remote supporter interaction.
