Parma have reportedly stepped ahead of Everton in the race to sign Bayern Munich striker Joshua Zirkzee, according to a report by Italian website Tuttomercatoweb.

The Blues have been linked with a loan move for Dutch Under-21 international Zirkzee since last week but Tuttomercatoweb believe he is now more likely to land at the Ennio Tardini Stadium, where he is more likely to be guaranteed first-team football.

TeamTalk, however, cites an article by Holland's Football Oranje which claims talks with Everton are ongoing and that any deal would include an obligation for the Blues to buy Zirkzee at the end of the season for €10 million. That report suggests Germany's Cologne and Holland's Heracles Almelo may also provide competition for the forward's signature.

MSN have claimed Everton are considering a move for Real Sociedad's French defender Modibo Sagnan this month.

Centre-back Sagnan, 21, moved to Spain from RC Lens in summer 2019 and has made 13 appearances so far this season.

Returning to Italy, journalists Fabrizio Romano and Nicolo Schira say rumoured Everton target Arkadisuz Milik is poised to join Marseille.

Milik has long been suggested as a potential Toffees target having played under Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli. However, the Poland international, 26, now appears Ligue 1 bound.

Finally, Michael Ball makes the case for Everton's defence in the Liverpool Echo, praising the quartet of Michael Keane, Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina and Ben Godfrey.

"I would argue Everton's best centre-back partnership could be one we haven't seen yet! Michael Keane and Ben Godfrey," writes Ball in his column for the paper.

"That's what I'd probably pick, but you cannot fault anyone who's stepped into that back line this year. With injuries, a lot of lads have had opportunities.

"Mason Holgate has come in and been great, Godfrey has been immense, Yerry Mina's levels have got much better [and] Keane has probably been one of Everton's best players over the last 12 months or so."
