Everton Boss Gives Fitness Updates On Richarlison And James

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Richarlison is available for Everton's New Year's Day clash against West Ham United at Goodison Park - but James Rodriguez will not feature due to his calf injury.

Richarlison missed the Blues' 1-0 victory at Sheffield United on Boxing Day because of concussion protocols after being forced off in the Carabao Cup tie against Manchester United three days earlier.

The Brazilian has now sat out the required period and will return to the squad for the visit of the Hammers on Friday.

James has not played since the 1-1 draw at Burnley on 5 December but, despite having to miss the opening game of 2021, Ancelotti expects the Colombian playmaker to be back for the FA Cup third round tie against Rotherham United on 9 January.

Ancelotti also revealed Lucas Digne is going through individual training sessions as he recovers from ankle ligament surgery. The left-back is expected to rejoin the First-Team squad by mid-January.

Meanwhile, Allan is making steady progress with his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury, and Ancelotti is hopeful the Brazil midfielder will return by the end of this month.

In his pre-match press conference, the Blues boss said: "Richarlison will be okay [for West Ham] and James is unavailable. For James we have to look day by day. Unfortunately he is not ready yet and I hope he will be ready for our next game on 9 January.

"Allan is doing individual treatment. I think he will be ready around the end of January. We have good news from Lucas Digne in that he has started individual sessions and, maybe in one week to 10 days, he will be able to train with the team."
