Iwobi: Why Blues' Belief Is Flowing

It felt great to come away with a victory against my old club Arsenal on Saturday and continue what has been a really positive period for us.

We were desperate to build on our wins against Chelsea and Leicester City and you could see from the 2,000 fans inside Goodison at full-time that it’s a great position we now find ourselves in. Everyone’s buzzing.

Having Evertonians with us again means a lot, too. You could feel their presence on the pitch and they are like the 12th man. They keep us going and we’ve really missed them.

I thought it took a real team performance to help us to our 2-1 win on Saturday. You can see we’re confident and we came up against an Arsenal team that we knew would be an attacking threat. I feel like we defended really well as a team so I’d like to give us credit.

It was great for me to play a part in our opener with the cross that led to the own goal after good pressure in the box from Dom. The equaliser set us back a bit but we did well to retake the lead just before the break thanks to Yerry’s header and that proved enough.

We had to defend in the second half but you can see how resilient we were and how difficult we made it for Arsenal. It was a great team performance.

We defend as a team, defend as an XI and it really helps to have the fans with us urging us on, as well.

For us to achieve nine points from our recent games against Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal gives us real confidence and belief that we can do the same against any other team.

I’m happy with my contribution and to be creating chances  - and it was a great feeling coming back against my old club – but it’s all about the team performance.

We now turn our attention to Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester United. It’s a big game and another match under the lights at Goodison with 2,000 of our fans cheering us on.

We’re in competitions to try to win them. We want to win as many as we can, not just for us but for the fans, especially.

We have to stay humble. We’ll keep on fighting, keep working hard and hopefully we can keep this feelgood factor to give our fans plenty to smile about going into Christmas.
