WATCH: Godfrey Reveals Toughest Premier League Opponent

Ben Godfrey has revealed the tireless striker who gave him the toughest test of his Premier League career so far… Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The defender was speaking to Evertonians Richard, Hanna and Henry, who were given the opportunity to put their questions to Godfrey as a reward for signing up as Official Members for 2020/21.

The trio joined Godfrey on a video call and discussed a range of topics, from making the jump from League Two York City to Premier League Norwich City as a teenager to his ambitions with Everton and what it’s like to work under Carlo Ancelotti.

And, asked who his most challenging opponent has been to date, the 22-year-old revealed it is an in-form forward he now has to face on a daily basis in training.

“When I played against Dom at [Carrow Road] for Norwich after the lockdown, Michael [Keane] scored, but that day Dom did not stop running for 90 minutes and it was the most annoying day of my life because he worked so hard,” said Godfrey.

“For me, personally, that was probably my hardest day in the Premier League because he just doesn’t stop.

“He can jump, he can run, he can finish… it’s not nice for a defender when you’ve got Dom chasing you around, so I know what they go through.”

Watch the video above to see what else Godfrey had to say to our Official Members, including why he is so grateful for the “unbelievable opportunity” to learn from three-time Champions League winner Ancelotti and how he is aiming to become a 22-year-old centre-back “with the head of a 26, 27-year-old one”.
