Monday’s Liverpool Echo suggests Everton could be lining up a move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The local read picks up on reports in the Italian media that Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen to bring the 25-year-old to Everton in the January transfer window.

Frenchman Rabiot joined Juventus from Paris St Germain in 2019 and helped the Turin club win the league title in his debut Serie A season. He was won eight senior caps for his country.

Staying with the Echo, and the paper carries quotes from one of Everton midfielder Allan’s former managers, who has hailed the Brazilian’s “positive character”.

Former Udinese boss Andrea Stramaccioni worked with Allan during the 2014/15 season and explained why “every manager would be happy with a player like him”.

"Allan is positive, a hard worker, serious outside the pitch but always smiling,” said Stramaccioni in an interview originally given to evertonfc.com.

"Everton fans will always see a player fighting for his shirt and giving 110 per cent for them. His family and mentality gives him the power to be what he is.”

And the Daily Mail reports on how Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was urged to sign for Everton in autumn 2011 by then Toffees captain Phil Neville.

Scholes had called time on his playing career earlier that year but would eventually come out of retirement in January 2012 to rejoin United.

“I felt as fit as I probably ever had done after having four months off [after retiring] - it was just the break I needed,” Scholes said.

“I spoke to Phil Neville and he said, 'Come and play for Everton.’”
