Everton midfielder Allan explained why he is at the “perfect club” to progress his career as he answered wide range of questions from members of the Blues’ official Brazilian supporters’ group.
Allan also outlines why it is a pleasure to be part of a football club with such strong humanitarian values, and reveals the Brazilian delicacy he would love to introduce to his Toffees teammates and Everton fans!
Members of the Everton FC Brasil Supporters’ Club were recently asked to record questions for Blues summer signing Allan, with the Toffees star giving his answers via video link at USM Finch Farm.
Allan, who joined Everton from Serie A side Napoli in September, says manager Carlo Ancelotti – as well as compatriots Richarlison and Bernard – have helped to smooth his transition to life in England.
“It’s great to have the other Brazilians here to help me settle in,” he said.
“When you come to a club the size of Everton and with a coach like Carlo Ancelotti, I’ve felt warmly welcomed from the first moment.
“The Club is thinking really big and when the opportunity came to join it was not something I had to think twice about.
“I spoke with my family and I saw this would be the perfect club for me to progress as a footballer and for us as a family.
“It was absolutely the right choice, it’s a great club.”
In an expansive interview with evertonfc.com last month, Allan opened up on the “difficult childhood” he experienced in the underprivileged neighbourhood of Piscinao de Ramos in Rio de Janeiro.
And while he is only into his third month as an Everton player, he explained how the Club's efforts to serve its local community have firmly resonated.
“It’s really a pleasure to be at a club that is so involved off the pitch in these sort of activities,” he said.
“That’s not just the players but the whole Club helping those in the community who are most in need.
“I think that if we can all help then the world will be a better place. In terms of our club, I hope it’s an example for others to help those who really need it.”
