Hollywood Legend Travolta Reveals His 'Love' For Spirit Of The Blues

Everton’s chart-topping Spirit of the Blues anthem has captured the imaginations of Evertonians worldwide – and Hollywood legend John Travolta has now given the track his seal of approval!

Videos dubbing the 80s song over famous TV and music scenes have gone viral on social media – leading to a campaign from supporters to get Spirit of the Blues to number one to celebrate the Toffees’ sensational start to the 2020/21 campaign.

The Everton tune eventually hit top spot in the UK iTunes charts earlier this week, beating off stiff competition from Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Jason Derulo.

One of the social video memes features Spirit of the Blues being dubbed over Travolta’s iconic dance routine from Pulp Fiction.

Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright sent his friend Travolta the meme, and the megastar actor swiftly replied with the message: “Wow Blues!!

“I love the video!!! And proud to be part of your amazing run.

“Congrats to the best team ever!! Go Everton!!!!

“Love JT.”

Everton Chairman Bill Kenwright said: “Like all Blues I’ve loved (and shared!) every video as Spirit of the Blues has captured the imagination of our supporters...and it has to be said many others!

"This weekend, when I saw the brilliant one featuring John Travolta I immediately wanted him to see it.

"But even though John is very aware of my Everton love affair I thought twice about sending it on given what a terrible year he’s had in his personal life....but I did...and he came straight back to me saying he absolutely loved it!

"And as you can see couldn’t he be happier to be a part of this! The Spirit of the Blues is strong - all over the world!

"As always thank you to all our fantastic fans who have made this terrific record resound far and wide. And thank you, John!”

Spirit of the Blues was originally released by Liverpool Express after Everton secured the First Division title and European Cup Winners' Cup double following the 1984/85 season

Evertonians can now get their hands on the limited-edition vinyl edition of Spirit of the Blues for £10, with all proceeds going to the Club’s official charity Everton in the Community. Click here to purchase.
