Ancelotti Celebrates Good Night For Everton Supporters

Carlo Ancelotti hailed a “good night for Evertonians” after his side beat West Ham United to reach the Carabao Cup quarter-finals – and Everton Women reached the FA Cup final with victory over Birmingham City.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin struck his second hat-trick in 11 days – and increased his season’s tally to eight in five games – as Everton completed their sixth win from six matches.

Richarlison was also on target, restoring Everton’s lead 10 minutes after Robert Snodgrass struck following half-time to equalise Calvert-Lewin’s 11th-minute opener.

Ancelotti also moved to ease concerns over the fitness of Richarlison, Allan and Jonjoe Kenny, whose nights were ended prematurely by injury.

Everton will learn their last-eight opponents on Thursday, with the tie to be played in December.

“It was a very good performance, we did well and have good momentum,” Ancelotti told evertontv.

“We are focused, we have motivation and we will keep going.

“We reached the quarter-final… and I am really pleased the women reached the FA Cup final.

DCL ON HOW HARD WORK IS PAYING OFF

Striker grabs second hat-trick of 2020/21 in 4-1 win over West Ham.

“It is a good night for Evertonians.

“Dominic is at a good level, he scored a lot of goals in these five games.

“It is important he has consistency and for him to stay focused to score goals for us.

“He has more confidence... because he played a lot of games.

“He is improving a lot in the box, he is really focused and clinical, this is the most important part.”

Everton will aim for a fourth successive Premier League success when they host Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Ancelotti’s team have won away at Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace either side of a home victory over West Bromwich Albion.

Michael Keane is the only Everton player to have started that trio of top-flight fixtures in addition to all three cup matches.

Indeed, the centre-half got Everton’s Carabao Cup campaign up and running when he scored against Salford City in round two.

Keane created Calvert-Lewin’s opener on Wednesday, with Alex Iwobi and Gylfi Sigurdsson taking it in turns to assist the striker’s subsequent efforts – on a night when Willie Kirk's Everton Women followed their FA Cup quarter-final victory over Chelsea with a 3-0 last-four win at Birmingham to book a Wembley date with Arsenal or Manchester City.

Richarlison scored on 56 minutes, his shot taking a wicked deflection off Declan Rice as Everton responded to Snodgrass’s equaliser 25 seconds after the break.

“Michael is comfortable, good tactically and fantastic with his head,” said Ancelotti.

“He never panics and is always calm.

“Now we have to pay attention.

“Every game can be difficult.

“We don’t have much time to recover to prepare for Brighton, which is really important, but I hope we can repeat our good performance.”

Ancelotti, who admitted he is trying to learn the lyrics to resurgent Everton song Spirit of the Blues, is tentatively optimistic over the three players who were hurt against the Hammers.

“I have to see tomorrow,” concluded Ancelotti.

“It seems not so bad. Two twists on the ankle, for Jonjoe and Richarlison.

“Allan had a little muscular problem we have to check tomorrow.”
