In-Form Calvert-Lewin Eyes Further Improvement

Dominic Calvert-Lewin hit his fifth goal in three Premier League games to help Everton maintain their unbeaten start to the season - but insisted the Blues must keep on improving.

A committed team performance saw Everton leave Selhurst Park with a 2-1 win - their first success at the stadium since January 2017 - to move top of the embryonic Premier League table.

Calvert-Lewin struck on 10 minutes to add to the hat-trick he claimed in last weekend's 5-2 defeat of West Bromwich Albion, having also netted the only goal in the season-opening success at Spurs.

Cheikhou Kouyate's header brought Palace level midway through the first half on Saturday but Richarlison restored Everton's advantage from the penalty spot before the Blues saw off a succession of set pieces after the break to claim a fifth straight win in all competitions.

Everton's perfect start means they lead the way in the top-flight, albeit with a number of teams having played fewer games.

HIGHLIGHTS: CRYSTAL PALACE 1-2 EVERTON

All the goals from Selhurst Park as the Blues move top of the Premier League table.

Carlo Ancelotti's side welcome West Ham United in the last-16 of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and tackle Brighton and Hove Albion at home next weekend ahead of the October international break.

And Calvert-Lewin wants to see even more from the team as they continue to gel following the arrivals of James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure.

"I thought it wasn't our best performance today but we stuck in there and worked hard and got a result, which is the main thing and keeps the momentum going," said Calvert-Lewin, who is now the leading Premier League scorer so far this season and is already a third of the way to his tally of 15 goals in all competitions last term.

"It is early days but we are looking to build on every game, keep performing well, win games and score goals, and the more we're training together, the more we're getting used to being together.

"It's exciting times but obviously it's only three games, we're not getting carried away.

"We'll keep working and keep continuing to hopefully play well."
