Centre-back Reece Welch has signed a first professional contract for Everton, penning a three-year deal until the end of June 2023.

Welch, who turned 17 last week, has made impressive progress throughout his time at Everton Academy, having joined the Club aged eight.

A strong, composed defender who boasts quality in possession, Huddersfield-born Welch has been capped by England at Under-16 and Under-17 level.

He is currently part of Paul Tait’s Everton Under-18s team and has played every minute as the young Blues have enjoyed a fine start to the 2020/21 season.

Tait’s team kicked off the campaign with a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers, before drawing 2-2 at reigning U18 Premier League champions Manchester City on Saturday.
