Fleetwood Trip Awaits Winners Of Everton Salford Clash

Everton will travel to Fleetwood Town in the Carabao Cup third round, should they overcome Salford City in round two on Wednesday night.

League One Fleetwood, managed by former Manchester City and Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton, defeated Port Vale 2-1 on Tuesday to set up a tie with either Everton or League Two side Salford.

The draw for the third round of the competition was made at the same time as the second round draw.

Salford, the club co-owned by former Everton captain Phil Neville, brother Gary and their former Manchester United teammates David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, head to Goodison Park on Wednesday, with kick off at 8.15pm.

The Ammies, who were promoted to the Football League in 2018/19, overcame Championship opposition in Rotherham United on penalties in the Carabao Cup first round and kicked off their league campaign by coming from behind to draw 2-2 with visitors Exeter City on Saturday.
