Everton completed the signing of midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure from Watford on Tuesday evening and the news features heavily across Wednesday's local and national newspapers.

The Frenchman has joined the Toffees on a three-year deal with the option for a fourth season.

Doucoure becomes Everton’s third signing in four days, following the arrivals of Brazil midfielder Allan and Colombian attacker James Rodriguez.

Several newspapers carry quotes from Doucoure, who stated Everton “was the only club I wanted to join”.

He added: "Everton has a big history in English football and it is a good club for me to have a step up in my career.

“It’s an ambitious project here.”

The Liverpool Echo reports Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is “thrilled” with the business the Club has done so far this summer.

The local read adds any further arrivals at Everton during the transfer window are likely to be on loan, with the Blues eager to strengthen their options at centre-back and left-back.

The Echo, Sky Sports and Daily Express claim Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is one player on Everton’s radar. The 22-year-old is rumoured to be available on a season-long deal for the 2020/21 campaign.

The Echo also analyses how new signing James and compatriot Yerry Mina could link up to provide a consistent goalscoring threat for Everton this season.

Only four players had more headed attempts on goal than Mina in the Premier League in 2019/20 and the paper reckons the centre-back could benefit from James’ renowned crossing ability.
