Everton's signing of Colombian attacker James Rodriguez has made headlines across the globe.

James completed his transfer to the Blues from La Liga giants Real Madrid on Monday night.

Several national and international publications carry quotes from the 29-year-old, who has linked up with Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti for a third time having previously played under the Italian at Madrid and Bayern Munich.

“I’ve come here to try to improve, to get better,” said James. “I’ve also come here to help the team to win, to play good football – entertaining football.

"I’m convinced, with Carlo and his technical staff, we can achieve big things and one of the big reasons [for signing] was the presence of Carlo Ancelotti."

The Liverpool Echo reports Everton are close to announcing another new arrival in Watford midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure.

The paper claims the Blues have agreed a fee "in the region of £20million" for the Frenchman.

Since joining Watford from Rennes in 2016, Doucoure has made 141 appearances and scored 17 goals for the Hornets.

The Echo also features quotes from Everton Academy graduate Anthony Gordon, who has revealed his aims for the upcoming campaign.

"I've got all different types of targets, like scoring my first goal," said the 19-year-old, who signed a new five-year contract with the Blues last week.

"My main goal is just to play, establish myself in the team and be a starter every week and not just be on the fringes."
