The Liverpool Echo continues to suggest Real Madrid attacker James Rodriguez could soon complete a transfer to Everton.

Monday's edition of the paper highlights the high regard in which Rodriguez is held in his Colombian homeland, featuring quotes from a local journalist who describes him as “our Maradona”.

“For me, he is at least in the top three of the greatest players in the history of Colombian football,” adds sports reporter Guillermo Arango.

“He has a very good shot and pass. He’s very intelligent and classy on the pitch.”

The Echo also links Everton with a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero.

The local read points to Romero’s success with Everton Director of Football Marcel Brands at Dutch side AZ Alkmaar – the pair were both at the club when they lifted the Eredivisie title in 2009 – and states the Argentine could be available for transfer following Dean Henderson’s return to Old Trafford.

The Daily Mail features quotes from Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has outlined why Evertonians “will love” new signing Allan's qualities.

The Brazilian midfielder completed his move to Goodison Park from Serie A side Napoli on Saturday.

“Allan is very aggressive,” Ancelotti said.

“My personal opinion is that he is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world.

“'He is intelligent tactically and he has got a lot of energy. He is a player whose energy can make the others better.”
