Everton will wrap up their abbreviated pre-season campaign with a game against Preston North End at Goodison Park on Saturday 5 September (3pm).

Carlo Ancelotti's team host the Championship club seven days before the 2020/21 Premier League season is due to get under way.

Everton begin their friendly fixtures away at League One Blackpool on Saturday (3pm) and will visit Preston's second-tier rivals Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday 1 September (6pm).

Alex Neil's Preston finished ninth in last season's Championship, four points outside the play-off positions, and start the new term at home against Swansea City on the weekend of 12 September.

The Lancashire team last visited Goodison for a League Cup tie in October 2004 when goals from Lee Carsley and Marcus Bent secured a 2-0 Everton win, mirroring the result when the teams met in an FA Cup fifth round tie on Merseyside in January 2000.
