Richarlison Arrives From Watford: On This Day

Brazilian forward Richarlison joined Everton ON THIS DAY in 2018.

Richarlison started his professional career in his homeland with America Mineiro before moving to Fluminense in 2016.

He arrived in the UK 12 months later to join Watford and he was the only Hornets player to appear in all 38 Premier League games in the 2017/18 campaign.

The opportunity to rejoin former Watford boss Marco Silva was too much for him to turn down when Everton came calling in the summer of 2018.

His header at Sheffield United earlier this week was Richarlison’s 29th goal in 78 appearances for the Blues.

The curtain came down on a wonderful Everton career ON THIS DAY in 2012 when Tim Cahill swapped Merseyside for New York.

It was eight years and one day since Cahill had joined the Blues and, after 278 appearances, he decided it was time to try his luck in the MLS with New York Red Bulls.

He stayed in the ‘Big Apple’ for two-and-a-half years, and, for a while, he held the record for the fastest goal in MLS history having found the net against Houston Dynamo after just eight seconds!

On his departure from New York Red Bulls, Cahill joined Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua.

Jermaine Beckford scored his first Everton goal ON THIS DAY in 2010.

The Blues defeated Preston North End 3-0 at Deepdale, with Beckford finding the net twice either side of a goal from Louis Saha.

Beckford came off the bench at half-time with the game goalless but, within 10 minutes, he ran onto a forward header from Phil Jagielka and slotted a neat finish past Andy Lonergan.

Saha scored midway through the half after being teed up by Phil Neville and, on 70 minutes, Beckford volleyed home the third to the delight of the travelling Evertonians, who made up more than half of the 9,000 attendance.
