Trio Ruled Out For Everton's Season Run-In

Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed injured trio Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina and Fabian Delph will not play again for Everton this season.

Holgate was forced off after 16 minutes against Aston Villa on Thursday with the same shin problem he picked up at Spurs on 6 July and will not be available for Monday's trip to Sheffield United or the finale at home to Bournemouth next Sunday.

Mina suffered a muscle injury at Wolves last weekend while Delph has not featured for the Blues since the Premier League restart.

Other than long-term absentees Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Achilles) and Cenk Tosun (anterior cruciate ligament), Ancelotti has no other injury concerns for the clash at Bramall Lane.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Saturday, the Italian said: "All three [Holgate, Mina and Delph] are out for the rest of the season. We only have eight days left and they will not be able to recover.

"When players have injuries we are always disappointed but we've had a lot of games and, honestly, we were lucky in this aspect."

Ancelotti acknowledged that the injuries to Holgate and Mina presents another opportunity for Jarrad Branthwaite to impress in central defence.

The 18-year-old, who signed from League Two club Carlisle United in January, made his senior bow at Wolves and then replaced Holgate in the 1-1 draw with Villa, putting in an assured performance alongside Michael Keane.

"[Holgate and Mina] are two important players but we have the opportunity to give experience to a really young player who did well in our last game," added Ancelotti on Branthwaite. "We have confidence in him and so it can be good for us and for him to play these games.

"Against Aston Villa he did really well considering the fact that he's really young. He's showing in his play character, personality and concentration. He can be a really good player, I'm sure of this."
