Diamond And Beattie Join Blues Fans

Graham Stuart and James Beattie joined the East Midlands and Aintree branches of the official Everton Supporters' Club on Tuesday evening for a virtual get-together.

Diamond and Beats chatted away to members of both clubs for around an hour, via Zoom, and covered a wide variety of topics.

Beattie, who joined the Blues from Southampton in 2005, spoke of the terrific welcome he always gets whenever he comes back to Goodison, he assessed the form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin this season, and then spoke about the perils and the enjoyment of managing lower league clubs like Accrington Stanley.

“I had to persuade my old school to lend us a pitch to train on, I had to buy the water for training from the supermarket every night and I had to clean the dressing rooms…but I loved it,” he said.

Stuart, a Club Ambassador, revealed which current squad member he would have enjoyed playing alongside, explained why he would have liked to have gone into management after hanging his boots up and (of course!) he spoke about THAT Wimbledon game in 1994.

“No, I don’t think Wimbledon wanted to lose that game,” he insisted. “If they did, then Dean Holdsworth would have missed his penalty and Hans Segers wouldn’t made a great save from me.”

The event was hosted by Darren Griffiths and if any official Supporters Clubs would like to get involved, email beth.jones@evertonfc.com.
