Everton Hit 22 Goals In Warm-Up Fixture: On This Day

New manager Roberto Martinez picked his first Everton team ON THIS DAY in 2013.

The Blues were up against Austria Vienna at the Generali Arena at the end of a training trip and new signing Joel Robles made his debut in goal.

Everton lost the game 2-1, with Apostolos Vellios gaining the honour of scoring the very first goal of the Martinez era when he netted a 40th-minute equaliser.

Marko Stankovic scored both goals for Austria Vienna, who played in the Champions League that season after winning the Austrian title.

The Everton starting XI included Tyias Browning, Shane Duffy and Magaye Gueye and Martinez made eight changes at half-time.

The Blues were also involved in pre-season action ON THIS DAY in 2010.

Everton played Melbourne Heart in the second game of their tour to Australia and David Moyes handed debuts to Portuguese striker Joao Silva and new signing from Leeds United, Jermaine Beckford.

Louis Saha missed an early penalty, awarded following a foul on Seamus Coleman, but Everton won the game 2-0 with goals from Jack Rodwell and Saha.

As expected, Tim Cahill was given a rousing reception when he came off the bench to replace Magaye Gueye at the start of the second period.

Marco Silva’s first game as Everton manager went rather well ON THIS DAY in 2018 - the Blues defeating FC Irdning 22-0!

The Austrian minnows were totally shell-shocked and Everton were 10-0 ahead at half-time.

Kevin Mirallas led the way with five goals and he was joined on an unbelievable scoresheet by Cenk Tosun (4), Oumar Niasse (4), Ademola Lookman (3), Nikola Vlasic (2), Leighton Baines, Michael Keane, Mason Holgate and an own goal.

Mirallas came off the bench at half-time and had scored a hat-trick by the 52nd minute!
