What The Papers Say – 29 June

Calciomercato reckons Everton and West Ham United will vie for the signature of Ola Aina after Torino decided to cash in on the former Chelsea player in the forthcoming summer transfer window.

Defender Aina, 23, has been in Italy two seasons and Torino want to recoup the €10m they paid Chelsea for his services, reports the Italian publication.

Tuttomercatoweb in the same country claims Everton’s supposed interest in Adrien Rabiot has intensified, with the Blues said to have held “informal talks” over a deal for the midfielder.

France international Rabiot, 25, joined Juventus last summer following nine years with Paris Saint-Germain, where Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti was boss for 18 months from December 2011.

Two Everton players are attracting covetous glances from elsewhere, according to separate reports in Monday’s publications.

The Daily Express says Chelsea have identified Jordan Pickford as their “number one candidate” to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Goalkeeper Pickford has established himself as England number one since coming to Goodison Park three years ago and played all 107 of Everton’s Premier League games following his move from Sunderland.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has “grown tired” of Kepa’s inconsistency, reports the Express, and will pursue a deal for Pickford this summer.

Football Insider claims Manchester City are plotting a move for Everton centre-half Mason Holgate.

Englishman Holgate committed his long-term future to the Club in March and the report indicates City could include former Blues defender John Stones plus cash in any offer.

Quizzed about interest in Holgate earlier this year, Ancelotti insisted there was “zero possibility” of the 23-year-old exiting Goodison.

Everton, meanwhile, are “interested” in versatile France Under-21 player Boubacar Kamara.

That is according to Le10Sport, who declare the Blues have joined a pack of Premier League clubs on the tail of Marseille’s Kamara.

The 20-year-old is accomplished at centre-half or in a holding-midfield position and has played 79 games for Marseille since a debut aged 17 in late 2016.

The Liverpool Echo speculate over a possible Everton swoop for Dwight McNeil and analyse how Burnley’s talented 20-year-old left sider would fit into Ancelotti’s long-term plans.

And in the same paper, it is said La Liga club Real Valladolid are racing to beat Tuesday’s deadline to extend the loan of Everton striker Sandro Ramirez until the end of this season.
