Everton Boss Provides Team News Update Ahead Of Norwich Clash

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed Yerry Mina, Fabian Delph and Djibril Sidibe will be unavailable for Wednesdayโ€™s Premier League game at Norwich City (6pm).

Mina and Delph continue to be sidelined with muscle injuries but are expected to return for next Wednesdayโ€™s home game against Leicester City.

Sidibe will miss the Carrow Road clash with a foot problem but Ancelotti says he is hopeful the full-back will return to full training soon.

Theo Walcott is out after undergoing abdominal surgery last week while Jean-Philippe Gbamin is a long-term absentee for Everton having suffered an Achilles injury.

โ€œWe didnโ€™t suffer any new injuries against Liverpool [a 0-0 draw on Sunday] so the same squad will be available for Norwich,โ€ said Ancelotti, who was speaking at his pre-match press conference via video link at USM Finch Farm.

โ€œYerry Mina and Fabian Delph are close to coming back but they are not available for the game on Wednesday. I hope for the next game they will be available.

โ€œDjibril is not available to play either. He has a problem with inflammation on his foot but I hope he will be ready soon.โ€

After more than three months without a competitive fixture before Sundayโ€™s goalless draw with Liverpool at Goodison Park, Everton will return to Premier League action just three days after that Merseyside derby match.

Ancelotti praised the fitness levels his side displayed in their first game back but noted maintaining such intensity in Wednesdayโ€™s clash at Norwich will be a challenge.

โ€œI think we trained well and in the Liverpool game we showed our physical condition was really good,โ€ he said.

โ€œThe effort of the team was fantastic in the physical aspect. I am sure it will be more difficult in the game on Wednesday because we have not had a lot of time to rest.

โ€œIf you look at the other leagues that started before us, the statistics say that after a three-day break it is really difficult to keep the same intensity and physical level.

โ€œWe have to be focused to try to repeat the same performance in a physical aspect, but I think it will be more difficult.

โ€œAlso, Norwich had two days extra to recover as they played on Friday. But, fortunately, in football, there is not just the physical aspect to consider.

"There is also the mental, tactical and technical qualities, which we would like to show tomorrow.โ€

Midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin completed a move from Everton to Ligue 1 club Nice on Tuesday.

The Frenchman made 88 first-team appearances for the Toffees after joining from Manchester United in 2017.

Manager Ancelotti paid tribute to the 30-year-oldโ€™s application and professionalism during his time at Everton.

โ€œHe had the desire to go back and play in France and we allowed him the possibility,โ€ Ancelotti explained.

"The time he played for me, he did well, before he got injured.

โ€œEveryone in the Club is happy for what he did as a professional here.

โ€œWe wish him all the best for the future.โ€
