Teenager Gordon Given Everton Bow

Anthony Gordon will make his first senior Everton start in Sunday’s Merseyside derby.

The 19-year-old Goodison Park Academy graduate has featured twice from the bench in the Premier League this term but is given the nod to start in a wide position against Liverpool.

Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin continue a partnership up front which has been worth 12 goals in nine league starts since Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment as manager.

Alex Iwobi occupies Everton’s other wing berth and Andre Gomes starts next to Tom Davies in the centre of midfield.

Everton’s back-four has a familiar look, captain Seamus Coleman at right-back and Lucas Digne on the left of the defence.

English duo Mason Holgate and Michael Keane are employed as the Blues' centre-half pairing and for Jordan Pickford in goal this game will represent a 106th straight top-flight Everton outing.

A nine-strong bench features attacking options in Bernard, Moise Kean and Gylfi Sigurdsson.

There are places among the substitutes, too, for 17-year-old defender Jarrad Branthwaite, midfielder Beni Baningime, and full-backs Leighton Baines and Cuco Martina.

Manager Ancelotti has two goalkeepers in reserve in Maarten Stekelenburg and Joao Virginia.
