Footmercato in France suggests Napoli have moved into “pole position” for Gabriel Magalhaes but Everton remain “in the running” for the Lille defender.

Magalhaes played every minute of Lille’s Champions League campaign this season and featured 24 times in Ligue 1.

Lille are said to have agreed a €22m fee with Napoli for the 22-year-old but are “in no hurry” to complete a deal for Magalhaes, who has three years remaining on his Stade Pierre Mauroy contract.

And, according to Footmercato, Everton are continuing discussions with Lille after a first offer for centre-back Magalhaes was knocked back.

The Daily Star says mooted Everton target Kurt Zouma could be allowed to exit Chelsea this summer.

Centre-half Zouma played 36 games on loan at Goodison Park in 2018/19 but returned to his parent club for the current campaign.

Chelsea, however, are lining up further incoming deals after bringing in RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner and are thought to want to offset their outlay by selling six players.

The Star lists Zouma among the half-dozen set to leave and the defender, 25, is supposedly on the radars of both Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, where he would reunite with former Stamford Bridge boss Jose Mourinho.

Fiorentina are “battling AC Milan and Everton” for the signature of Thiago Silva, according to Football Italia.

Brazilian central defender Silva will depart current club Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer when the French club’s Champions League involvement is finished.

Everton were “leading the race” for Silva, in the view of the Italian publication, but now have serious competition from Fiorentina, with the player reportedly “open” to switching to the Serie A team.

The website Goal claims to have been told by Atletico Madrid sources that Everton want to buy the La Liga club’s right back Santiago Arias.

Colombian Arias, 28, was with PSV Eindhoven for five years before joining Atletico in 2018 and worked with Everton Director of Football Marcel Brands at the Dutch club.

Goal intimates the La Liga club would accept €15m for Arias but are waiting for Everton to submit a formal bid.

The Bournemouth Echo, meanwhile, expands on reports Everton could be the “potential next club” for Cherries forward Ryan Fraser.

Scotsman Fraser will be a free agent when his Vitality Stadium contract expires on 30 June and is thought to have told teammates he views Everton as his “best option” – with Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Turkish club Galatasaray all credited with an interest in the former Aberdeen player.

The Liverpool Echo responds to rumours around Everton and 5ft 4in Fraser by analysing some of the Blues’ diminutive stars down the years, with Steven Pienaar, Alan Ball and current attacker Bernard all getting a mention.
