Everton’s illustrious number nine shirt was first worn by the Club’s greatest ever player, William Ralph ‘Dixie’ Dean, as he led the Blues out as captain in the 1933 FA Cup Final.
Powerhouse striker Dean scored as Everton beat Manchester City in front of more than 90,000 fans at Wembley.
Dean donned the number nine for the Blues' next two games but Everton would not wear shirt numbers again until 1945, with another Toffees legend, Harry Catterick, taking up the mantle.
The shirt has since become synonymous with some of the most famous names in Everton’s history, including Dave Hickson, Joe Royle, Bob Latchford, Graeme Sharp and Duncan Ferguson.
