Spanish newspaper Sport reports Everton are in “pole position” to complete the transfer of Barcelona defender Jean-Clair Todibo.

Todibo is currently on loan at Schalke 04 and Sport suggests the rumoured £22million fee Barcelona are demanding prohibits the Bundesliga side from signing him on a permanent deal.

The paper believes, however, that several other Premier League clubs are also keen to bring Todibo to England.

Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes continues to be linked with a move to Goodison Park.

The Daily Star reckons Everton have moved ahead of Chelsea in the battle to secure the Brazilian’s signature.

The Liverpool Echo carries quotes from Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti, who has saluted legendary Blues boss Howard Kendall.

Ancelotti revealed he has recently watched Howard’s Way, the film celebrating the Blues’ exceptional team of the mid-1980s.

“It was really nice to see the film Howard’s Way and get to know the history of the Club and the history of this legend, Howard Kendall,” Ancelotti said.

“This is the goal that I have here at Everton, to try to be a good manager like Howard Kendall."

The Echo also shines a light on Everton in the Community’s life-changing work and how the Club’s charity is making fans “hugely proud”.

The local read highlights the results of the latest Premier League fan survey, which found 98 per cent of Evertonians believe the Club makes a "significant contribution to the community".
