Catering Firm Relish Provides Meals For Blue Family Campaign

Everton’s Blue Family campaign received a helping hand this week when Liverpool-based catering firm Relish donated 1,000 pre-made meals to Everton in the Community to be distributed to those in need.

The generous donation was made to the Club’s official charity by Relish Directors Kiara Mako and Chris Foulkes and the meals have been gratefully received by elderly participants from Everton in the Community’s Pass on the Memories programmes as well as being delivered to residents living across the Blue Mile.

Everton in the Community is a charity close to Relish Director Chris Foulkes heart as his father Bobby was a participant on the charity’s Pass on the Memories programme for the last five years but sadly lost his life to COVID-19 in April. Chris and the team at Relish were keen to show their thanks in memory of their beloved Bobby and give back to Everton in the Community.

And as a further gesture of thanks, Relish have committed to providing a further 100 meals a week for the next 10 weeks for the participants of the charity’s Pass on the Memories programme and easing the stress and worry that food shopping might bring.

Supporting people living with dementia and their carers, Pass on the Memories provides weekly reminiscence sessions and activity and interaction games for more than 200 individuals a week from The Blue Base. As a further gesture of thanks, Relish have committed to providing a further 50 meals a week for the next 10 weeks for the participants of the charity’s Pass on the Memories programme and easing the stress and worry that food shopping might bring.

Everton in the Community’s Neighbourhood Manager Sarah Atherton said: “We are very thankful to Relish for their fantastic support of our Blue Family campaign and their dedication and commitment to joining us in helping those in need at this difficult time. Bobby was a much-loved member of our Pass on the Memories group for more than five years and this is a wonderful gesture for Relish to make in his memory for his fellow participants and our Blue Mile residents.”

Kiara Mako, Director at Relish added: “Here at Relish, we pride ourselves on being a business with a big heart and it is important to us that we have been able to step up and support the most vulnerable during these uncertain times. We are proud to have provided more than 10,000 meals to those in need across the city so far, whilst working alongside some great supporters such as Everton in the Community and Hungry Must Be Fed driven by Lord Mayor of Liverpool Councillor Anna Rothery.

“Everton in the Community is a charity that is especially close to Relish’ heart, and of course Chris’ in particular. His father was extremely passionate about the Pass on the Memories programme and therefore it felt right to give something back in recognition of all the joy they gave Bobby over the years.

“We will continue to support those who need us most throughout this pandemic. This wasn’t a route we ever imagined our company taking but we are so grateful for the facilities that we have, to be able to support those who need it most.”

Established in South Liverpool in 2010, Relish has built up a reputation for delivering the best locally sourced and inspired foods and specialises in catering and events as well as providing catering for The Venue at the iconic Royal Liver Building, the home of Everton’s headquarters.

In wake of the current coronavirus pandemic, Relish have temporarily amended their operation to now deliver their industry-leading brand of catering to the people in businesses, care facilities and hospitals who have found their usual supply lines interrupted by the restrictions that we are all living under.
